3 Typical Indian Recipes Made With Cold Pressed Groundnut Oil

  • Groundnuts are considered as one of the basic ingredients of many of the dishes made in almost every state of India and groundnut oil too is a widely used white oil in most Indian households. The organic cold pressed oil extracted from fresh groundnuts makes all these Indian dishes tastier and healthier.

In this blog today, we shall be introducing some typical and simple recipes that can be made using cold pressed groundnut oil.

1.   Poha

Flat rice is used to make poha which is a typically consumed Indian food item. For this recipe, clean and wash flat rice and keep it aside. Remember to drain the water or else it will become soggy. Put some groundnut oil in a bowl and add black mustard seeds, dry red chillies and curry patta. Let it splutter for a while before you add some groundnuts and raisins. Fry them for a minute and add chopped onions, carrots, peas and french beans. Add salt and turmeric powder, cover with a lid till the vegetables have softened. Once it is done, add the flat rice and sugar to taste. Mix everything well and serve hot.

2.   Moong dal chillah

Indian pancakes are also known as ‘chillah’ and you can prepare them with any kind of cereal. Let us use moong dal for this recipe. Soak moong dal for four hours with a bit of salt. Later, add the dal into a mixer, add a few green chillies, ginger and salt. Grind it till it turns into a smooth batter.

Pour the batter into a bowl and add some freshly chopped coriander leaves, turmeric powder and sugar; whisk the batter till it becomes fluffy. In a pan, put a few drops of groundnut oil and brush it well. Add one small bowlful of the batter in the pan and spread it evenly. Prepare it like an omelette, flipping over and frying both the sides well. Serve with some green and imli chutneys.

3.   Paneer wrap

This is an awesome recipe to feed your little ones whenever they crave some snacks. You can buy tortilla wraps from the market or use simple homemade rotis. Begin by adding some cold pressed groundnut oil in a bowl, add chopped garlic cloves, and let it turn aromatic. Add finely chopped onions, carrots, capsicums, french beans, peas, and potatoes. Sprinkle salt, sugar, crushed black pepper, turmeric and chilli powders. Mix everything well, cover with a lid, and put it on medium flame.

Check after a while if the vegetables have softened or else add a little water and cover it again. Put the mixture in a bowl and mash it while it is still hot. Take a roti and smear butter and tomato ketchup on it, add the mixture and top it with grated cheese. Wrap it like an envelope and secure it with a toothpick. You can also apply a cold pressed sesame oil for cooking and bake it in the oven, or choose to serve it like this.

These delicious recipes can be prepared in no time and are great for both kids and adults. You just have to use the cold pressed groundnut oil just as you would use cold pressed sesame oil for cooking. With some basic culinary tips and skills, you can cook these wonders daily.
