How Is Cold Pressed Mustard Oil Extracted?

Cold pressed mustard oil extraction takes a long time. In the past, this procedure was carried out in a long, cylindrical device called a "Ghani," which was employed to extract oil from oilseeds. The Ghani was a wooden or stone-made mortar and pestle. Cold pressed mustard oil is the purest type of edible oil as it is extracted at a low temperature without harming the natural contents. Cold-pressing preserves the oil's nutrition, flavour, and aroma while allowing for its full extraction.

Why Is Cold-Pressed Oil Different From Refined Oil?
1. Cold-pressed mustard oil is the oil extracted in its natural form, whereas refined oil is extracted by using high heat and chemical solvents.
2. In cold-pressed mustard oil, oilseeds are crushed by pressing technique to yield the oil, whereas, in refined oil, the seed is harshly crushed in the machine to get more extracted oil.
3. The method is putting seeds under a mortar, and a pestle for pressing the seeds is used to make cold pressed mustard oil, whereas to make refined oil, the seeds are processed with acetic acid, hexane, or bleaching soda.
4. Cold pressed mustard oil in its natural form is very healthy. It comes with all-natural nutrients and flavour, whereas refined oil is processed with 200 Celcius external heat that destroys all its nutrients.
5. Cold pressing is more expensive as it takes a longer time and produces lower yields – but it is the safest, most natural extraction method. You can get refined oil at a lesser price without any nutrients or bio-active components.

The Process of Extracting Cold Pressed Mustard Oil
Removing oil from mustard seeds is referred to as mustard oil extraction. Mechanical extraction via oil processing machinery is the most economical and extensively utilised method for producing mustard oil. An oil press machine is the most economical and effective oil mill device for producing mustard oil. The recovered mustard oil can subsequently be refined and filtered to remove impurities.

Drying Out The Mustard Seeds
Drying out mustard seeds under the sun is an essential step to follow as it helps in removing water from the seeds. In making cold-pressed mustard oil, sunlight is utilised to dry the mustard seed instead of external heat. Sunlight won't harm the natural property of its nutritional content.

Cleaning Mustard Seeds
The seeds are washed when the initial procedure is finished. To ensure the purity and highest calibre of the extracted oil, the mustard seeds are cleaned to eliminate any debris and extraneous items.

Heating The Mustard Seeds
The yield is increased by heating the seeds. The procedure also makes more protein in the seed cake byproduct used to make animal feeds.

Extracting Oil From Mustard Seeds
Immediately after being properly prepared, mustard seeds are fed into the mustard oil press machine, which is crushed and pressed for up to an hour or more, depending on the quantity, to - 26% oil. To fully extract the oil from the seed cake, more pressing and crushing must be done.

Purifying Mustard Oil
Before the oil is bottled and stored, the extracted oil must first be filtered to remove contaminants. To finish this procedure, oil is strained out from the cotton clothes, which helps in preserving the components' unique flavours and health benefits.

Conclusion

Natasha Mills manufactures high-quality cold pressed mustard oil by following all the steps. We procure seeds from farmers who adopt chemical-free cultivation practices. For moisture removal, we sun dry our seeds. We heat the seeds to a maximum of 50 degrees celsius - not beyond that.

While processing the oil, we only press the seeds once, so they do not lose any nutrition. At Nayesha Mills, we filter the oil only on cotton clothes. Here you can get cold pressed mustard oil at the best price and offers.
